Mix 2 table spoons of baking soda with 1 2 cup of vinegar into a bowl. Dry it well with a towel and lay it on another towel as you continue this process with the other grates. Use a scrubber when cleaning burners rinse with clear water and allow to air dry before replacing.
This ensures little chance of rust once you dry them.
