How To Properly Clean Your Hair Brushes

To clean hairbrushes and combs start by removing any hair that s lodged in the bristles with your fingers.

How to properly clean your hair brushes. To clean a hairbrush start by using the pointed end of a comb to pull up the matted hair on the brush. Blend one teaspoon of baking soda one teaspoon of shampoo and one cup of water together. These brushes and combs can all withstand a monthly bath since they can dry completely. Once you ve removed all of the hair scrub the brush with shampoo and baking soda using an old toothbrush. Then cut through the loosened hair with scissors and pull the cut hair out with your hands.

Mix dish soap with warm water to create a mild cleaning solution then dip an old toothbrush in the solution and scrub the hairbrush or comb down thoroughly before rinsing it with clean water. Cover brushes with hot water not boiling add 1 tablespoon of dish detergent and 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Make sure to clean all parts of the brush because dust and dirt can develop anywhere on it. And for cleaning it you need to take a bucket or a large box so that the bushes can be soaked well. In the hair world we have tools to clean out brushes but when i m at home i grab a pen or pencil and slide it under the hair in the brush.

Make sure you pour a lot of water that it can totally cover the brushes. You do this so you don t end up cutting your bristles with the next step next go in with your scissors and cut straight down the middle as seen above. Place them face down on a clean dry towel and allow them to air dry overnight. Pre washing means you need to get all the brushes together and make these ready for cleaning. Allow to sit for one hour or over night.

If a few hairs are still trapped you can always use a toothbrush to dislodge them. Fill up the sink or bowl with warm water add a small amount of clarifying or gentle shampoo like good. The vinegar is used to kill any bacteria and germs. Now pull up until the hair starts to loosen. If you re cleaning out a round brush flip it over and do the same on the opposite side.
